Common Questions that HPs ask

Are your herbs standardized?

Answer:  If an herb IS standardized, our manufacturers use it.  Some herbs are and some are not.

How long has the gene snp been available?

Answer:  Genetic testing has been available for awhile.  Our particular test has been available for over 2 years.

Who are your manufacturers?

Answer:  We do not release the names of our manufacturers to distributors/general public.  This is for privacy reasons for the manufacturer and because we have proprietary relationships with them for our formulations.  Are you concerned with quality control?

What is the quality assurance procedures of your manufacturers?

Answer:  Give them the nutraMetrix Overview, code 13911.  All of our manufacturers abide by GMP, good manufacturing practices.  This means that their labs are inspected periodically for cleanliness, quality control, etc.  They go through 3rd party independent testing and we also test some products for qc at Market America.  We have just hired a Quality Control Director with many years experience in the nutraceutical industry who will be establishing guidelines for all of our manufacturers to abide by.

Do you use synthetic or whole food supplements?

Answer:  Both.  Every nutraceutical company (Standard Process included) uses synthetic forms of vitamins in their supplements.  That is the active form that is what creates the changes in enzyme functioning and your bodies’ metabolism of nutrients.  You could not put enough of a whole food (carrot, broccoli, etc) in a tablet vitamin to make it productive/active.  Some companies market that they are “whole food supplements”, but check the labels and you will see the synthetic forms of the vitamins in the small print.

What is the profit margin on your supplements?

Answer:  50% based on distributor cost, not retail price.

Do I have to keep any inventory?

Answer:  You should keep enough inventory to allow for first time purchases to be completed in your office.  This is helpful to the patient to be able to leave with product in hand, plus it allows you to teach them how to use it correctly and you know they actually bought it.  Repeat purchases can be done through your web portal.

What kind of training do you provide?

Answer:  We provide a 3 day training program for all LHPs.  Show them the agenda.  Plus, as a NAAC, I will provide as much training for you and your staff as you need.

Do you keep a back up copy of the gene snp report?

Answer:  We keep a back up copy for 2 years, at which point the information is then destroyed.  There is a small charge for a copy.

Could I take the formula from the gene snp and use my own supplement manufacturers, and what is the cost effectiveness of this?

Answer:  Theoretically, you could, however, it would not be cost effective as we have designed the entire program to support a custom formula and it would be more expensive for you to piecemeal  the ingredients.

What kind of marketing and educational materials do you provide for me and my patients?

Answer:  We have designed all of our educational/marketing materials with the idea in mind that the HP does not have a lot of time to spend with their patient discussing nutrition.  We have minibooks, audio CDs, DVDs and other programs that can be given to the patient for at home study.  We also offer a web portal and access to the Natural Medicine Comprehensive Database for you and your patient to utilize.

What happens if you add new genes to the gene snp test?

Answer:  If we add new genes, then an individual should retake the test or may be able to just take a test for the new snps added.

If the patient changes their diet/lifestyle, will the customized formula change?

Answer:  No, because the custom formula is based strictly on the genetic variations.  As your genetic variations will not change in your lifetime, there is no need to retake the test or for a reformulation, unless new snps are added to the test.

What research do you have to support linking nutrients and the customized amount of a nutrient (mg, mcg) to having an effect on gene expression?  Where can I find that research?

Answer:  There is plenty of research to support linking nutrients and their effect on gene expression.  For a condensed list, you may visit www.mycellf.com and click on Bibliography.

Do you have any clinical trials on the gene snp supplements and effectiveness?

Answer:  Currently, we do not have any clinical trials on the gene snp.  However, we are accepting proposals from research institutions to develop studies on the gene snp and also some of our other products in the nutraMetrix line.

How do I know my patient will comply with the regimen after the 1st 90 days, especially if they do not feel anything?

Answer:  We teach you or your staff to follow up with the patient after the 1st few days, 1st week and then monthly to assess their compliance, feedback, etc.  Patients must be taught that many individuals do not necessarily “feel” anything from taking supplements.  Supplements are taken to improve optimal health and longevity.

How does your company compare to the competition (Standard Process, Metagenics, etc)?

Answer:  We offer niche products like isotonix, gene snp, transitions program that some of these other companies do not offer.  We also offer an intensive training program for LHPs that is taught by MDs and PhDs that have already implemented the program successfully.  And, we offer the ongoing assistance of a nutraceutical consultant (me) to work with you and the practice to ensure the successful implementation.  Best of all, you do not have to compensate me as I am compensated by the volume of product that is moved through your practice.

Can you test children for the gene snp?

Answer:  No, we don’t test anyone under 18.  This is not because of the test, but because the program is designed to give anyone who submits a test a customized supplement.  Most of the supplements contain some herbs that may be contraindicated in children.

What if I don’t have a lot of time to spend talking/educating my patient about nutrition?

Answer:  We have plenty of educational materials in the form of minibooks, cds, dvds that you can simply give to the patient for them to study and learn on their own.  Show examples.

Where can I get drug/herbal interaction information if I’m not well versed in this area?

Answer:  We have a partnership with the Natural Medicine Comprehensive Database and you may purchase a discounted subscription to this, which will give you extensive information on drug/herbal interaction, adverse effects, patient handouts, etc.  Plus, you can get up to 8 CMEs by taking the quizzes online.

Do I have to recruit or go to meetings?

Answer:  You have the option to just sell product or take part in the commission plan.  As a Naac, I am able to network with your referrals if you are comfortable with that, thereby allowing you to focus on implementing the program in your practice while I work with your leads.  You do not have to recruit or go to meetings, however, there are 3 required trainings.  Explain the NDT, B5 and ECCT.  These are only required if you choose to participate in the compensation plan.

Is this MLM?  Make sure you determine if they think MLM products are bad, or if they just don’t want to recruit.

Answer:  No, why do you ask.  Explain the differences between MLM and our company.  MLM refers to a compensation plan.  We do not pay on levels, decreasing percentages, build more than 2 sales organizations, etc.  Some HPs think products distributed from a network mktg company are flawed/bad.  Misconceptions about marketing/distribution
